As the first and so far only company in Turkey, İGA has received the renewed ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certificate in aviation and other comparative sectors. It specifies the process in which a company identifies its environmental performance; minimizes, prevents, and controls its environmental impact, and accordingly, continuously improves its environmental performance.
“Since day one we have given the utmost attention to environmental matters and sustainability,” says Yusuf Akçayoğlu, CEO of İGA Airport Construction. “And today, we are experiencing the well-earned pride of achieving a new standard with İstanbul New Airport. We have crowned our Environmental Management System and we will continue to accomplish even more ‘firsts’ in our sector.”
Renewed every five years by the International Standardization Organization (ISO), the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System certificate was issued in Turkey in January 2016 by the Turkish Standards Institution. The process of certification began in August 2016, led by the İGA Environment and Sustainability Directorate. The work program involved the entirety of the 22,000 personnel that constitute the İGA family. After a series of meticulous audits and examinations by a team from Bureau Veritas, an independent audit, environmental, health, and risk-prevention company, İGA qualified to receive the certificate.
