Flight check inspection underway

İstanbul New Airport is coming closer to being operational day by day. In cooperation with General Directorate of State Airports Authority of Turkey (DHMI) flight check inspections have started on May 16. They are being done as part of a certification process, in order to verify the performance of air navigation services and associated instrument flight procedures. The goal of the inspection is to check if all NAV-AIDS systems are working properly and instrument flight procedures meet the intended operational requirements. Also, obstacle assumptions are verified and experts control if all required infrastructure is in place and operative.

The first runway 34L16R at the future hub has been completed early in the year. It covers 3,750m in length and 60m in width. Installed are the PSR Primary Surveillance Radar, Instrument landing system localizer and Glidepath system, DVOR antenna’s with the related Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), electrical and IT infrastructure. In the first stage the airport will have two runways. Once all stages are completed it will cover six runways.
