Thanks to its Social Investment Program, İGA became a Bronze Stevie Winner in the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year category at the 2017 Stevie International Business Awards. İGA received the award in the ceremony held in Barcelona.
The program was launched on January 1, 2016, with the goal of establishing trustworthy relations with neighboring local communities, which are made up of 16,000 people directly and indirectly affected by the airport construction. The purpose of the program is to raise the life quality of local communities. It consists of two components, namely Rapid Impact Projects and Income Generation Projects.
In the past 20 months, more than 150 projects and activities have been launched as part of the program. More than 150 meetings with 80 stakeholder agencies and over 5,000 one-on-one meetings have been held with locals since the inception of the program. A family health center was repaired, 16 educational facilities were built, 18 training workshops were organized, and a total of 182 students from preschool and first and second grade received teeth scanning and treatment services. In order to support employment in the region, İGA and its subcontractors recruited 3,000 people. A women’s cooperative was provided with technical and financial aid, and informative meetings were organized for 100 livestock farmers. A complaint mechanism was set up and benefited 10,320 people.
