A Sustainable Outlook
İstanbul New Airport is set to turn Istanbul into the most important aviation hub in the world. It is not only a major sustainable infrastructure project, but also a driving force greatly contributing to the sustainable development of our country.
Once all phases are complete, the İstanbul New Airport will have a 200 million passenger capacity and will implement all sustainability practices acknowledged worldwide including chiefly environmental and biodiversity practices during the construction, ground allotment, local labor force, supply chain and subcontractor network, human rights practices and shareholder relations.
Within this framework, İGA started to report sustainability practices as part of the Envision Rating System certified by the US-based Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). Additionally, the LEED Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification is successfully underway. The certification is offered by USGBC (US Green Building Council).
