İGA published a Sustainability Report prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, which considers the sustainability activities done during the construction of the Istanbul New Airport. With this report, Istanbul New Airport will present its sustainability work to the attention of its stakeholders within the framework of international standards.

İGA put together the 2016 Sustainability Report in light of the principles of GRI G4 Core. Corporate governance, environmental sustainability, business and social management practices at international standards are collated in a report, with a view to offer a powerful contribution to the development of the sustainability culture in Turkey as well as the sustainable development of the country.

The CEO of the İGA Airports Construction, Yusuf Akcayoglu, emphasized that sustainability is a matter of culture for İGA: “Based on our sustainability principle, we evaluate our decisions from the environmental, social, and economic perspectives. We constantly strive for the better and more advanced. With our meticulous work based on international standards, we set a full-fledged example to the world as to how to build an exemplary airport.”

As the construction proceeds at full speed, sustainability plans for İstanbul New Airport were made so that it covers the operation period on the basis of the continuous development principle.
İstanbul New Airport is acclaimed with its work and awards in the field of sustainability. İGA, which was awarded the ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management System Document updated in December 2016, is the first company to have received the document in aviation and comparative sectors. Moreover, the company which carried out a detailed Environmental and Social Impact Assessment at the outset, engages in various fields of work such as Biodiversity, Ecology Management, and Social Investment. In the 2016 planning; İGA set a goal in order to crown the project with international certificates such as the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by USGBC (United States Green Building Council) and the Envision Rating System certified by the US-based Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). IGA fosters the principles of Sustainable Development as it continues its efforts to achieve its goals.
